A leading international mining and metals company is currently looking to appoint a proven and technically qualified senior addition to its team who will manage all water management aspects of its mine projects.

The Position:

The successful candidate will assume responsibility for:

  • Defining, implementing, and supporting operations with projects to achieve short, medium and long-term goals for water management solutions.
  • Reducing dependency on fresh water via enhanced water reuse and recycling
  • Recovery of valuable secondary aqueous phase constituents
  • Reducing environmental impacts
  • Synthesizing information from subject matter experts in water balance, water process and treatment plant design, mining, processing, legal, environmental, and operations
  • Driving design and execution of feasible and practicable efficiency and treatment improvements
  • Evaluating and ranking water conservation and treatment opportunities for operating sites 
  • Leading a multidisciplinary team of engineers through influence and mentorship, engaging across various levels and groups to drive good practice for water management.
  • Engaging with a broad group of internal stakeholders on water management decisions to ensure alignment on path forward on fit-for-purpose solutions
  • Presenting updates to project sponsors and external business partners as needed to support short, medium, and long-term goals of projects
  • Contributing to strategic planning and budgeting efforts for relevant projects / operations.
  • Managing appropriate budgets for consulting, vendor, and other services

The Candidate:

Applicants will be expected to demonstrate:

  • A minimum bachelor’s degree in civil / chemical / mechanical engineering or related
  • At least ten years’ experience with mine water projects (water balance, water treatment, project engineering and execution in a mining environment)
  • Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing, in English
  • Excellent leadership capabilities and a positive, professional image
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Self-motivation, energy, ability to execute, and strong client-service orientation
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure
  • Strong skillset in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
  • Ability and willingness to travel nationally and internationally (at least five weeks each quarter)
