The appointed VP Exploration will work closely with the executive team to develop and execute on strategic exploration plans.
The Position:
The successful candidate will lead the exploration and geology departments, define goals and targets for each function and manage departmental staff to help achieve the company’s strategic goals, in addition supporting corporate development and investor relations activities as required. This will involve:
- Working with the executive team to establish exploration priorities and prepare strategic plans
- Providing leadership that safeguards the assets and financial viability of the company
- Preparing the exploration budget to achieve drill targets based on key factors such as cost, time, success rate and potential impact on the share price
- Reviewing plans to adapt to changing market conditions and corporate goals
- Overseeing exploration activities to meet objectives on time and within the established budget
- Identifying all legal and regulatory requirements applicable to exploration activities and ensuring compliance with all governmental obligations and legislations
- Working with the Health, Safety and Environment teams to ensure that all appropriate environmental, mining and exploration permits are in place and up to date
- Maintaining positive relationships with applicable government agencies and local communities
- Developing monitoring and tracking tools to continuously monitor activities, address bottlenecks, improve efficiency of processes and to identify opportunities for improvement
- Ensuring 43-101 compliant sampling, QA/QC, geologic and geotechnical data collection programs are in place
- Analysing drill results, historical data and other geological/geotechnical information to develop geologic models and mineralization theories
- Supervising geological/litho-structural modelling and reserve/resource estimation activities
The Candidate:
Applicants will be expected to demonstrate:
- A minimum of five years’ experience in a silver focused exploration environment
- US citizenship or green card residency
- A minimum bachelor’s (ideally masters or PhD) degree in geology or geological engineering
- Leadership and project management experience covering mineral exploration, geologic modelling and/or resource estimation
- Strong commitment to maintaining high standards with respect to Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainable development
- Excellent management, organizational and negotiation skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team to achieve results, meet objectives and manage budgets
- Strong analytical and communication skills, and demonstrated ability to write reports and interact with peers and executive management
- Experience with supervision of mineral resource estimations and completing economic studies
- Highly competent at geological interpretation, 3D modelling and reserve/resource estimation and the ability to efficiently use software tools including Leapfrog Geo and Leapfrog Edge
- Qualified Person under NI 43-101, familiar with the company’s NI 43-101 obligations
- Strong presentation skills and competence participating in conferences and presentations to investors and strategic partners
