    Based at our client’s UK production headquarters in the Northeast but involving extensive UK and worldwide travel, the appointed Technical Support Engineer will interact closely with customers on technical issues, optimising product performance and investigating failures.

    The Position:

    Reporting to the Plant Technical Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

    • Investigating product failures, mill performance and other customer concerns
    • Failure analysis and reporting
    • Stress analysis using 3D modelling
    • Working with customers to maintain strong business relationships
    • Guiding customers on roll use and maintenance
    • Analysing roll performance data
    • Communicating customer concerns to sales and manufacturing teams

    The Candidate:

    Applicants will need to demonstrate:

    • A recognised qualification (ideally degree) in metallurgy or materials science
    • Engineering experience with rolls, rolling mills and roll shops
    • NDT experience including ultrasonic, eddy current, MPI, DPI and hardness
    • An in-depth understanding of hot and cold rolling applications
    • Good problem-solving skills
    • The ability to write technical reports, interrogate and interpret data
    • Strong verbal and written communications skills
    • The ability to review and interpret engineering drawings
    • Proficiency in the use of SolidWorks
