  • JOB-2495 TKI

Self-motivated technical sales professional required to grow and support our client’s rigging, trussing and staging business across the UK, meeting and exceeding revenue and margin targets while also maintaining high levels of customer service.

The Position:

Reporting to the National Sales Manager, the appointed Technical Sales Consultant will be responsible for developing new clients and opportunities as well as advising and selling to existing clients.  This will principally involve:

  • Identifying and closing new commercially viable business opportunities
  • Meeting agreed sales revenue and gross profit targets
  • Developing and maintaining strategic business relationships
  • Following up on own leads and those generated by trade shows or incoming enquiries
  • Producing accurate quotations for customers
  • Ensuring all sales projects are delivered on time and within customers’ budgets
  • Visiting customers and demonstrating a varied range of technical equipment
  • Attending industry functions and trade shows to build and maintain market presence
  • Keeping aware of new and existing competitors and products, and their effectiveness in the marketplace

The Candidate:

Applicants will ideally have prior sales experience, but this is a secondary requirement to having strong rigging, trussing, lifting and temporary staging experience, ideally gained from working in a hands-on environment.  Applicants will also be expected to demonstrate:

  • Confidence in communicating with a wide range of stakeholders
  • The ability to rely upon strong initiative and work effectively under pressure
  • An understanding of the complexity and pressure around a live performance
  • A thorough understanding of Health & Safety compliance in the rigging & entertainment industry
  • (Ideally) some working knowledge of CAD, to understand stage plans
  • Good IT skills and a full UK driving licence
  • A willingness to travel throughout the UK

As this is a predominantly field/home-based position, applicants can feasibly be based anywhere in the UK, but a requirement to attend occasional sales meetings at the company’s Southwest headquarters will better suit applicants based in the Midlands or South.

The Company:

Providing lighting, audio, video, staging, sets, rigging and power solutions to the theatre, entertainment, communication and education industries, our client has been operating at the forefront of technological developments in professional theatre and the performing arts for over 30 years.  With nationwide coverage, the company is a specialist NICEIC contractor with both Entertainment Industry and Health & Safety scheme accreditations.  An ongoing commitment to the training and development of its staff means that our client’s knowledgeable team can offer advice and quotes on sales, installation, training, repair and safety testing for customers including schools, universities, theatres and opera houses, TV and recording studios, as well as corporate and leisure industry clients.
