Senior Resource Geologist required with 8 plus years’ experience in chemical processing plants, manufacturing, mining operations, or other large industrial facilities. 

The Position:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing technical expertise in resource estimation of deposits and accurate geology models of the deposits’ relevant features in accordance with industry and company standards
  • Developing junior staff in resource estimation and geology modelling procedures
  • Taking ownership of the resource estimation and reporting processes, mentoring and development of technical personnel, projects and studies as required
  • Developing a reconciliation model that supports the strategic plan of the company
  • Identifying mineralization controls to appropriately model deposits and to assist exploration new drill targets
  • Providing technical expertise in geo-statistics and resource modelling, to assist with the development and training of production and exploration teams
  • Assessing, designing and implementing a production grade control process
  • Providing assistance to the operations team on technical issues
  • Advancing minor operations projects and studies, as directed
  • Reconciling mine vs. mill and mine vs. reserve and resource figures
  • Preparing resource statements and reports with input from the relevant contributors
  • Complying with all safety requirements and observing all company policies and procedures
  • Regular domestic travel (up to 50% of the time) and occasional international business travel

The Candidate:

Successful candidates should have project delivery experience and be well versed in leading and coordinating resource modelling, resource estimation and geological management functions. Key requirements include:

  • At least 8 years’ progressive experience in resource estimation
  • A minimum bachelor’s degree in geology
  • Significant production experience, preferably in both open cut and underground environments
  • Previous experience in geological modelling and resource estimation using advanced estimation and simulation techniques
  • (Ideally) prior involvement in a resource drill out through to feasibility stage or production
  • Experience in a senior management role in the resources sector is highly desirable
  • Professional affiliation to act as a qualified / competent person
  • Excellent analytical and math skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to persuade others to change existing practices
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • A strong commitment to quality and process improvement
  • Experience with Hexagon or Leapfrog modeling software a plus
