Capitalising on several significant recent investments, our client is now looking to appoint a technically capable and commercially astute Sales Operations Manager to control multiple commercial functions including sales development, project management, relationship management and customer service.

The Position:

Reporting to the Managing Director, the appointed Sales Operations Manager will be responsible for:

  • Establishing and maintaining effective formal and informal links with major customers and key accounts
  • Working closely with the Managing Director on developing performance goals and long-term operational plans
  • Maximizing efficiency and productivity through extensive process analysis and interdepartmental collaboration
  • Project management of customer orders from cradle to grave, including costing and profit management
  • Developing research and development programmes to ensure that the company remains at the forefront of the industry
  • Supporting design, manufacture and finance teams to deliver product on-time, to cost and right first time    

The Candidate:

Applicants for the position of Sales Operations Manager will be expected to demonstrate:

  • A minimum degree or HNC/HND qualification, ideally in mechanical engineering or a related technical discipline
  • Extensive sales, commercial and operational experience, ideally within the toolmaking / precision machining sector
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational and time management skills
  • Strong working knowledge of data analysis, performance metrics and business management software (SAP, ERP, CRM etc)
  • Strong analytical skills focussed on sales, profit margins and general business performance
  • The ability to negotiate, problem solve, communicate and manage day-to-day commercial activity for maximum efficiency and productivity and to meet business objectives
  • The ability to work efficiently and calmly under pressure to meet all deadlines
  • An excellent understanding of company accounts and overall operational awareness
  • The ability to read, interpret and understand complex engineering drawings
