Operations Director

    Proven operations leader required to manage and lead demolition, asbestos removal, land remediation and temporary/ancillary works.

    The Position:

    Based from our client’s headquarters but involving a good deal of travel to sites, the appointed Operations Director will assume responsibility for:

    • Liaising with clients and contract managers, site supervisors, demolition operatives and members of the public
    • Organising demolition plant, labour and materials, ensuring achievable deadlines are set and reached
    • Implementing Health & Safety procedures and ensuring all personnel adhere to them
    • Vetting and placing orders with licensed asbestos surveying/removal specialists
    • Ensuring that the proper procedures are followed to contain any contamination
    • Working with structural engineers to ensure that the fitting of any temporary works are
      constructed and fitted in conformity with the design supplied
    • Supervising the fitting of propping and retention systems which have been agreed to complete the contract safely

    The Candidate:

    Applicants will be expected to demonstrate:

    • A minimum of five years’ experience working for a demolition contractor
    • Membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers
    • Previous operational P&L responsibility (recruitment, training, strategy, client management)
    • Proven leadership and strategic management experience
    • Longevity of tenure in previous roles/employers
    • In depth knowledge of health & safety, quality and environmental legislation and policies
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
