Head of Automation Design

    £80,000 to £120,000 + Bonus (£20,000 OTE) + Car + Pension + Benefits

    This is an outstanding senior management position to head up the design, installation, projects (and increasingly marketing and pre-sales) teams of our client’s rapidly expanding intralogistics division.

    The Position:

    Reporting to the Director of Systems & Projects, the appointed Head of Automation Design will assume responsibility for:

    • Day to day management of the Projects Design Team (10 staff currently)
    • Managing resource planning and allocation of enquiries
    • Promoting cross functional selling and intralogistics sales within the Division and Organisation
    • Managing all KPIs and pipeline
    • Identifying key market / customer segments to target and secure business growth
    • Providing first line escalation for Projects issues and complaints
    • Implementing marketing initiatives and co-ordinating these within the Design team and Division
    • Working with sales to implement best practice processes and develop sales proposals to the highest standards
    • Assisting in the recruitment process for the design team
    • Playing an active role in planning and forecasting for the division

    The Candidate:

    Applicants will be expected to demonstrate:

    • Extensive experience of managing design and installation/projects teams within the intralogistics sector, either for a warehouse automation systems integrator or in-house for an end user
    • A professional level of knowledge of all intralogistics solutions
    • Good presentation and negotiation skills
    • A willingness to travel extensively on a nationwide basis
    • The ability to provide high levels of service to internal and external customers
    • Excellent planning and organising abilities to manage own workload and deal with competing demands on resources
    • Strong initiative to make decisions appropriate to the role and look at ways of improving processes
    • Creative problem-solving ability to work with internal personnel and external clients to advance beyond challenging design and implementation issues
    • Good attention to detail – Strong analytical and technical skills required
