Hardware Engineer

    An established developer of real time passenger information systems is presently seeking a proven design, development and testing technician for its hardware team.

    The Position:

    This is a highly varied role that would perfectly suit someone with an interest and experience in electronics, hardware, embedded software, system processes and problem solving. Key responsibilities will include:

    • The design, development and testing of electronic equipment
    • Repairing PCBs to component level
    • PCB and system design, integration and prototyping
    • QA testing and validation
    • Producing schematics and other relevant technical documentation
    • Input into product development to enhance robustness, performance and reliability
    • Investigating and resolving issues from a component to system level
    • Providing customer support to resolve issue and deliver improvements

    The Candidate:

    The successful applicant will be proactive and customer-centric individual with excellent attention to detail and the ability to demonstrate:

    • A minimum HNC/HND qualification (preferably degree) in electrical or electronic engineering (or equivalent)
    • Knowledge of analogue and digital electronics
    • Hands-on design and development experience within an electronics environment
    • EMC compliance knowledge
    • Experience of TFT/LED displays, touchscreen HMIs and vehicle tracking systems
    • (Ideally) knowledge of Linux embedded software
    • An appreciation of automotive electrics
    • (Ideally) experience using KiCad or DesignSpark PCB
    • Good communication skills with colleagues and customers
    • An ability to work effectively under pressure, both internally and in the field (as required)
