    Based from our client’s Nottinghamshire head office, the appointed Geotechnical Design Engineer will manage and undertake design work and technical project co-ordination across disciplines including driven, CFA/SFA, bored and micro piling, embedded retaining walls, ground anchors, soil nail reinforced slopes, working platforms, drilling, grouting and accompanying structural designs.

    The Position:

    The successful candidate will:

    • Prepare engineering solutions in accordance with contract documents and company procedures/policies
    • Undertake design submissions including calculations, design reports, feedback reports and technical drawings
    • Communicate technical issues with all levels of audience within the construction industry (meetings, report writing, emails, presentations)
    • Provide technical expertise and support to the sales, estimating and contracts departments
    • Carry out technical and risk appraisals to underpin proposals and engineering solutions
    • Represent the company on industry bodies as appropriate
    • Improve and maintain the company’s technical capacity, processes, management and library
    • Carry out all duties in accordance with current Environmental and Health & Safety policies and Integrated Management System
    • Developing and deliver CPD talks to prospective clients

    The Candidate:

    Applicants will be expected to demonstrate:

    • A minimum of three years’ design experience in multi-disciplined ground engineering projects
    • A minimum bachelor’s (ideally master’s) degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering or soil mechanics
    • Chartership membership (or aspiration thereof) of the ICE
    • A comprehensive understanding of current and relevant design standards and codes of practice for special geotechnical works
    • Confident communication skills for internal and client meetings, site supervision, report writing, emails and presentations
    • A good understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a design & build contractor, in accordance with CDM Regulations 2015
    • Proficiency in the use of CAD
    • A full UK driving licence
