Factory Manager

    Architectural Aluminium
    £40,000 to £45,000 + Company Vehicle + Contributory Pension

    The Factory Manager will oversee all factory operations for the fabrication and production planning of aluminium bifold doors, sliding doors and windows for the trade and commercial sectors.

    The Position: 

    The successful candidate will assume responsibility for safety leadership, quality management, environmental stewardship, warehouse management and staff management, principally involving:

    • Implementing industry-leading standards of Health & Safety in line with ISO45001
    • Staying up to date with all current legal requirements and industry best practices
    • Managing all people and processes impacting environmental operations to ensure compliance with ISO14001
    • Ensuring that customer orders are completed on time, to budget and to required quality standards
    • Working to production schedules and monitoring production processes (adjusting schedules if needed)
    • Improving plant capability, capacity and flexibility to support the business growth strategy
    • Implementing an effective quality management regime in line with ISO9001
    • Investigating product quality issues, documenting and implementing corrective action
    • Providing leadership for continuous improvement within the department
    • Machine programming and calibration
    • Liaising with different internal departments and with external transport companies, clients and suppliers
    • Reviewing worker performance and identifying training needs
    • Organising the safe, efficient and timely receipt, storage and despatch of goods, maintaining the warehouse in a similar manner
    • Capital planning, payroll, operating costs and losses through forecasting, tracking and reporting

    The Candidate:

    Applicants will be expected to demonstrate:

    • A minimum of five years’ production leadership experience encompassing metal fabrication and production planning/scheduling
    • Experience of running a quality management system in line with ISO9001
    • A track record of ensuring that orders are completed on time and to budget
    • An understanding of aluminium glazing systems (ideally Schueco, Smarts and/or JSP Aluminium)
    • Experience of implementing environmental compliance measures ISO14001
    • A motivational and empowering leadership style to best develop the team and maximise results
    • Prior experience of implementing continuous improvement programmes
    • A firm understanding of health & safety standards in line with ISO45001
    • Experience of managing and measuring performance through KPIs as performance standards
