EMEA Account Manager

The successful candidate will manage key existing B2B accounts in Europe and provide technical and commercial information for optical fibre manufactured in Japan.

The Position:

The appointed EMEA Account Manager will be involved with forecasting and demand planning, balancing EU product inventory and working closely with administration and logistics colleagues to meet customer requirements.  This will include:

  • Following-up customer enquiries and progressing through the sales cycle to successful conclusion
  • Balancing production capacity with customer demand and managing stock and timings of deliveries
  • Working closely with Japan head office, UK colleagues and an EU logistics partner
  • Providing technical information on all products
  • Participating in annual supply negotiations
  • Attending prospect/customer sites as and when appropriate
  • Working closely with colleagues in Europe and Japan to present a united face to the market
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed records of all customer interfaces: Presentations, sales calls, request for quotes (RFQs), quotations etc
  • Preparing monthly reports and forecast / budget information
  • Attending industry events to keep up to date with market trends/movements
  • Proactively developing new business opportunities, preparing proposals and carrying out sales presentations

The Candidate:

Applicants will be expected to demonstrate:

  • A track record of selling industrial products on a business-to-business basis
  • A minimum of two years’ account management experience, ideally internationally
  • A technical background in physics or engineering, to provide the depth to discuss technical topics (HND or degree level ideally)
  • (Ideally) experience gained in the fibre telecom market
  • Flexibility to travel overseas travel to Europe and Japan, with nights away, occasional work at weekends and attendance at exhibitions
  • Confidence when dealing with clients and ability to adjust to varying circumstances
  • The ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision to pursue goals
