The Position:

The Design Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Producing component, sub-assembly and final assembly fabrication drawings using CAD packages including SolidWorks “Sheet Metal” and “Advanced Assemblies”
  • Ensuring that the core production models are captured by item, BOM and production route
  • Drawing bespoke designs such as hoppers and chutes in time for the start of the manufacturing process
  • Ensuring that production drawings are current and a clear reflection of the respective BOM
  • Initiating design changes and improvements in respect of the existing range of equipment
  • Ensuring that drawings meet ISO 9001 requirements
  • Deriving material cutting lists from the drawings
  • Issuing drawings in line with current ISO9001 requirements for Design and Development

The Candidate:

Applicants will be expected to demonstrate:

  • Design experience within an engineering, industrial and/or manufacturing environment
  • A good understanding of both electrical and mechanical engineering principles in a design-led capacity
  • Experience of working with SolidWorks
  • A willingness to be very ‘hands on’ in seeing through the entire design and development process, from cradle to grave
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to interface effectively with the shop floor
