    One of the largest independent main contractors in the UK construction industry is presently seeking to appoint a proven Construction Director to focus on Southeast projects from its London office.

    The Position:

    The successful candidate will assume responsibility for:

    • Providing direction and leadership to a team of contracts managers, project managers, site managers and operatives on social housing, retail, healthcare, industrial, leisure and hospitality projects
    • Managing all site-based activities to ensure that the projects are delivered on time, to the required standards and within budget
    • Maximising client satisfaction in order to be able to secure further contracts
    • Ensuring that company and legislative health & safety procedures are adhered to
    • Controlling/monitoring each project and reviewing sub-contractors’ performance
    • Managing and communicating roles and responsibilities to ensure optimum return from each operative and manager
    • Adhering to timescales by ensuring all interfacing departments work collaboratively
    • Setting aspirational targets and standards for departments to drive continuous improvement
    • Working with the board to help drive the future strategy of this growing organisation

    The Candidate:

    Applicants will be expected to demonstrate:

    • A minimum of ten years’ senior/leadership experience in the construction industry
    • A chartered qualification (or working towards)
    • CSCS Card (Black Card or above)
    • Exceptional customer focus and good attention to detail
    • Proven senior management and leadership skills
    • A clear understanding of risk (current and future)
    • The presence and confidence to challenge current norms and processes
