    Chartered structural engineer with proven senior leadership experience required to head up and grow a busy design team at our client’s Devon location.

    The Position:

    The appointed Associate Director will assume responsibility for:

    • Managing and mentoring a team of 8 engineers and architects
    • Recruiting and training new staff to grow the team
    • Working on projects from small domestic alterations, refurbishments and basement conversions through to £20 million+ commercial projects in hospitality, heritage and related sectors
    • Liaising with clients, architects, insurers, contractors and local authorities
    • Overseeing and delegating the talking of client briefs, preparation of quotations and issuing of interim certificates
    • Managing site surveys, investigations and building surveys
    • Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety regulations
    • Checking calculations, drawings, surveys and reports

    The Candidate:

    Applicants will be expected to demonstrate:

    • MICE or MISTRUCTE chartership (essential)
    • A minimum of ten years’ experience in structural engineering consulting
    • Proven leadership (man management) experience
    • Strong knowledge of steel, concrete and timber construction/engineering methods
    • Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD and up to date knowledge of technical engineering codes
