    The Position:

    The appointed Operations Manager will assume responsibility for:

    • Overseeing all zinc die-casting processes
    • Ensuring that the department works as a team and adheres to the production plan to achieve quantity, quality and timescale KPIs
    • Ensuring that health & safety standards are followed to the letter
    • Organising workflow by assigning responsibilities and preparing for casting
    • Ensuring the safe use of equipment and inspecting plant to ensure scheduling of regular maintenance and continuous improvement/optimisation
    • Liaising with customers to fully understand their requirements and provide real time updates whilst in production
    • Working with quality and engineering teams to drive continuous improvement including LEAN and Kaizen methodologies

    The Candidate:

    Applicants will be required to demonstrate:

    • Significant experience of zinc pressure die-casting and associated secondary operations
    • Sound knowledge of finishing processes including powder coating, polishing and plating
    • (Ideally) aluminium pressure die casting and gravity die casting knowledge
    • A proven track record of managing the operations and P&L of a production team
    • A minimum degree or HND qualification in an engineering or manufacturing discipline
    • The ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects
    • Strong leadership skills to ensure production targets are achieved
    • The ability to read 2D engineering drawings, review technical documents and view 3D models using 3D software
    • Experience of implementing improvement techniques to effectively increase production and reduce costs
    • A strong understanding of health & safety practices within a production environment

    An established yet expanding company with over 50 years’ zinc casting experience, our client’s fast-cycling and fully automatic die-casting machines are capable of producing complex castings to the tightest of tolerances and highest standards of finish.  Supplying components ranging from 0.5g to 4.5Kg, the company’s customer base spans a range of manufacturing sectors, from electronics and geared motors through to automotive and security hardware.
