    An established car park design and build business is presently looking to appoint a motivated and dynamic pre-contract sales specialist to develop business with main contractors and car park operators throughout the UK.

    The Position:

    Working predominantly from our client’s Hampshire headquarters, but incorporating travel to sites and clients throughout the UK, the appointed Business Development Manager will assume responsibility for:

    • Identifying and securing business opportunities in accordance with targeted sales objectives
    • Identifying and establishing key relationships with potential new customers to provide sustained long-term business
    • Working alongside the Bid Team to prepare high quality client proposals and high impact presentation documents
    • Assisting in the development of pre-qualification submissions, pre-tender budget costs, lay out designs, high level programmes and outline proposal documents
    • Negotiating inclusion on restricted tender lists
    • Lead generation and appointment setting
    • Maintaining a tender pipeline and ensuring that all business development administration is regularly updated and accurately reported in a timely manner
    • Gaining a thorough understanding of customers’ business objectives and how/where the company can add value to these
    • Keeping abreast of all market sector intelligence including competitor activity
    • Maintaining and developing Key Accounts
    • Attending industry meetings and sector seminars to develop market knowledge and intelligence
    • Contributing to all pre-contract publicity, branding and marketing activities

    The Candidate:

    Applicants will be expected to demonstrate:

    • Previous sales or business development experience in the construction industry
    • Strong commercial acumen and negotiating abilities
    • Good knowledge of the estimating process
    • The ability to establish and maintaining strong and profitable business relationships
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Good organizational and time-management skills
    • Smart appearance and a professional manner
    • High levels of self-motivation and autonomy
    • A flexible approach to changing workload patterns
    • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and web-based information systems
    • The ability to plan and produce presentations and deliver these to prospective clients
    • Hands on problem-solving and ideas generation skills
    • Comprehensive attention to detail to ensure that all relevant business development opportunities are explored and captured
